Those of you who are serious about protecting children from non-therapeutic circumcision have a unique
opportunity to assist with a legal case in Oregon. An Oregon father, (an attorney), claims to be in the
process of converting to Judaism and wants his now 12-year-old son, ‘Misha,’ of whom he has
custody, circumcised against both the child’s and the natural mother’s express wishes.
This case poses important and unresolved Constitutional issues regarding the practice of male circumcision. The Oregon Supreme Court has issued a ruling to remand the case to the trial court for further proceedings. The court was informed by two amicus curiae briefs filed by Doctors Opposing Circumcision. Please see Misha's Case for more information.
Recently, There has been a huge amount of exagerated claims made for the alleged efficacy of male
circumcision in preventing HIV infection. DOC has prepared a statement to clarify the truth behind the
extravagant claims.
Doctors Opposing Circumcision receives several inquiries every week about premature forcible retraction of the foreskin, usually after an ignorant doctor improperly has retracted the foreskin of a young boy. We have provided a webpage with complete information about forced retraction cases. Please see:
Welcome to the Doctors Opposing Circumcision home page. D.O.C. is an organization of physicians, and others who are opposed to non-therapeutic neonatal circumcision. D.O.C. has members in 50 States, 12 Canadian Provinces and Territories, and in nations on six continents. These doctors recognize that no one has the right to forcibly remove sexual body parts from another individual. They also believe that doctors should have no role in this painful, unnecessary procedure inflicted on the newborn. D.O.C. carries out its work in accordance with its mission statement. Also see more about DOC.
The reasons that D.O.C. is opposed to non-therapeutic infant circumcision are explained in The End of Circumcision in America.
