Most physicians do not routinely circumcise the newborn boy. But those few who have wanted to perpetuate this practice, for nonreligious reasons, have been effective with their misinformation - until now.

With the founding of a nonprofit organization, Doctors Opposing Circumcision (D.O.C.), misinformation is being met with the facts from the same profession that has been perpetuating it.

Already, many committed individuals and health professionals have been instrumental in reducing the rate of routine neonatal circumcision in America from a high of 90% in the 1970's to under 60% today. This means that at least 120 million American parents have had the courage and good sense to leave their little sons' penises intact.

Now the official backing of physicians is supporting the committed pioneers in their efforts to halt circumcision, and parents in raising intact children. D.O.C. is committed to telling the whole truth about this tragic practice, until it is eradicated.

Some doctors may continue to remove a part of the penis of babies, but they will now have to do so with full knowledge of the great pain they are causing these babies, and the lifelong adverse consequences that result.
